若於三乘補特伽羅,說法苾芻,不起恭敬,及尊長想,或大師想者,此等能得未得之法,或已得者,令不退失,無有是處。由不恭敬,沉沒法故。」
This is explained as follows: if you do not respect persons of the third vehicle or monks who impart the teachings, or do not think of them as being the Teacher or as gurus, you have no way to obtain the good qualities that you have not yet obtained. Also, you will only waste those qualities that you have already obtained, for, as a result of not respecting these people, the teachings will disappear from your mind. 如果有人對於三乘普特伽羅及為其他人說法的比丘不生恭敬,沒有生起上師惑佛陀之想,縱然沒有締結法緣,這些人要獲得以前未獲得的法,或者要使先前已獲得的不致退失,絕無此理。原因是,由於不恭敬說法師,將使正法隱沒」因此說,不恭敬持教者也是教法隱沒的因緣。

- 或已得者,令不退失, Also, you will only waste those qualities that you have already obtained, 或者是已經得到的,可以使它不退失(中文版的寫法是「要不退失」是「無有是處」,也就是說與前文的「能得未得之法」一起接下面的否定式,英文則是you have no way只有在前文,而Also, you will only…則是一個獨立的句子,只接寫「已經得到的功德將會退失」,用肯定的寫法)

- 由不恭敬, for, as a result of not respecting these people, 因為不敬重法及法師
- 沉沒法故。」 the teachings will disappear from your mind. 那麼法必然沉沒退失
