下至唯從聞一偈頌，雖犯戒等，亦應就其功德思惟，莫觀過失，悉無差別。《寶雲經》云：「若知由其依止尊重，諸善增長不善損減，則親教師或聞廣博或復寡少，或有智解或無智解，或具尸羅或犯尸羅，皆應發起大師之想。
Reflect on your gurus' good qualities, and do not look for their faults. You must not discriminate among your gurus beginning with those from whom you have received one verse, even if they have such defects as faulty ethical discipline. For the 《Cloud of Jewels Sūtra》 states: When you rely on the guru, your virtue increases and your nonvirtue decreases. Understanding this, develop the idea that your abbot is the Teacher whether he or she is greatly or slightly learned, is knowledgeable or not, or has kept ethical discipline or faulty discipline.
即使是犯戒等等，只要從他聽聞僅一個偈頌以上，都必須毫無差別地從功德方面思惟，而不可就過失方面觀察。《寶雲經》中說：「由於通曉依止上師能夠增長善法、減少不善法，因此無論親教師聽聞廣博或者聽聞寡少、有智解或者無智解，俱足淨戒或者戒行虧損，都應該對他生起導師佛陀之想。

• 下至唯從聞一偈頌， beginning with those from whom you have received one verse, 就算從上師那兒只是聽聞了一個偈頌而已
• 雖犯戒等， even if they have such defects as faulty ethical discipline. 雖然這位上師有犯戒之類的過失
• 亦應就其功德思惟， Reflect on your gurus' good qualities, 也應該就上師的功德去思惟
• 莫觀過失， and do not look for their faults. 不要觀察上師的過失
• 悉無差別。 You must not discriminate among your gurus完全沒有差別（就英文版的解釋來說，不應該根據從上師那邊聽聞的多寡或者有沒有犯戒等標準，在不同上師之間起分別心，只要是師長，都要同樣恭敬承事）
• 《寶雲經》云： For the 《Cloud of Jewels Sūtra》 states: 《寶雲經》說。寶雲經，藏語དཀོན་མཆོག་སྤྲིན།，《藏漢大辭典》又釋義作《佛說除蓋障菩薩請問經》
• 「若知 Understanding this, 如果知道這件事情（這裡的this就是「知由其依止尊重，諸善增長不善損減」）
• 由其依止尊重， When you rely on the guru, 經由依止上師
• 諸善增長不善損減， your virtue increases and your nonvirtue decreases. 種種的善法增長，而種種的不善法損減
• 則親教師或聞廣博或復寡少， whether he or she is greatly or slightly learned, 那麼親教師不論他的見聞廣博或者寡少
• 或有智解或無智解， is knowledgeable or not, 有智慧有定解，或者沒有智慧沒有定解
• 或具尸羅或犯尸羅， or has kept ethical discipline or faulty discipline. 有持戒清淨，或者有違犯戒律
• 皆應發起大師之想。 develop the idea that your abbot is the Teacher 都應該對所依止的上師生起如佛想
