總諸至言及解釋中，由各各乘增上力故，雖說多種，然於此中所說知識，是於三士所有道中，能漸引導，次能導入大乘佛道。
Generally, in the scriptures and commentaries many defining characteristics of the teacher are taught from the viewpoint of the individual vehicles. However, the following is a description of a teacher who instructs you in the stages on the paths of the three persons of different capacities and guides you to the Mahāyāna, which is the path to buddhahood.
སྤྱིར་གསུང་རབ་དགོངས་འགྲེལ་དང་བཅས་པ་ནས་ཐེག་པ་སོ་སོའི་དབང་དུ་བྱས་པ་མང་པོ་ཞིག་གསུངས་ཀྱང་། འདིར་སྐྱེས་བུ་གསུམ་གྱི་ལམ་ལ་རིམ་གྱིས་ཁྲིད་ནས་སངས་རྒྱས་ཀྱི་ལམ་ཐེག་པ་ཆེན་པོ་ལ་འཁྲིད་པའི་དགེ་བའི་བཤེས་གཉེན་ཞིག་སྟོན་པ་ཡིན་ནོ།
白話：所有經論當中，談到善知識的德相，雖然由於各乘的不同，而有多種類別。但是本論所說的善知識，是指在三士所有的菩提道中，能漸次地引導，從下士、中士、進入上士，直至大乘佛地的善知識。

由各各乘增上力故，雖說多種many defining characteristics of the teacher are taught from the viewpoint of the individual vehicles英文字面上的意思「有很多足以定義(defining)各種修行方式(individual vehicles)的特質(characteristics)」而且是從各乘的觀點(viewpoint)來觀待」，中文的「各乘增上力」就是說不同修行方式有各自的特質，跟英文翻譯的characteristics相同
