是諸堪為尊重引導所有之法,應當觀察為具不具。若完具者應修歡慰,若不具者須於將來能完因緣勵力修作。故應了知能依諸法,若不了知如是德相,則不覺察,由此退失廣大義利。
Investigate whether these attributes that make you suitable to be led by a guru are complete; if they are complete, cultivate delight. If they are incomplete, you must make an effort to obtain the causes that will complete them before your next life. Therefore, know the qualities of a listener. If you do not know their defining characteristics, you will not engage in an investigation to see whether they are complete, and will thereby ruin your great purpose.
應當省察自身現是否齊備這些足以被上師引導的條件。如果完備的話,應當修習歡喜;如果有所不足,則需勤奮修集未來能完備的因緣。所以應該了之弟子的這些條件,如果不知道這些條件,則不會探尋省察,從而喪失廣大的利益。

- 應了知 know 應該瞭解(英文只有一個動詞,就是祈使句的意思)
- 能依 listener 能依止善知識的學生,也就是聽法者
- 諸法 the qualities 各種特質與德相
- 若不了知 If you do not know 如果不瞭解
- 如是德相 their defining characteristics 這些聽者該有的德相
- 則不覺察 you will not engage in an investigation to see whether they are complete 就不會想要去探詢省察這些德相(在自己身上)是否完備(意思就是無法瞭解自己有沒有什麼不具足的地方)
- 由此 thereby 因此
- 退失 ruin 糟蹋毀壞
- 廣大義利 your great purpose 最大的目的利益
